Yummy in the tummy

With some new things crossed of the list, I’ve started researching some other wedding details.  Yes, let’s all give me a round of applause…I ordered my dress. Ahmm…you must be thinking (if you keep up with this blog) “Hadn’t she already found a dress and if it was the ONE why hadn’t she ordered it?”  I’m delighted to say that I did find the ONE and I will give more explanation on that later.

For now, my new interest is on the details. I have been looking at what feels like a million photos of cakes, close to 2,000 photos of cakes on The Knot. I spend most of my free time on the website looking for ideas and inspiration. Just because I have been to quite a bit of weddings doesn’t mean I don’t do my research just like any other bride.

Here are a couple of cake photos that I liked. Once we get closer to the wedding Pepe and I will start cake tasting, but for now I just hope they will taste as good as they look.

Wedding clutch

I have been looking for new things to tie in our colors and details for the wedding. I figured I already had my shoes and dress (thought I have changed my mind several times and I’m sure I will a couple more times-but hey there are just so many beautiful dress I can’t help it!) so I started looking for a clutch where I could put my makeup for retouching as the day went by.

Here are a few I found. All of these through various vendors on ETSY. What are your thoughts?

Red Roses

The day we got engaged was also our six-year dating anniversary. When Pepe came to pick me  up for our photo session I was running late. Never the less I took the red roses that he had brought me and put them in a vase he had gotten me on our second Valentine’s Day together. Every time he brings me flowers, I put them in that vase. It’s our vase. Not only did he give me flowers on our yearly anniversaries, sometimes they were just because flowers and sometimes on our monthly anniversaries. Every 30th of every month.

All of this happened four months ago…wow I’ve been engaged four months!! It seems like it just happened and then I think about everything we have accomplished with the wedding planning.  This weekend we talked a lot about our goals and what we want to do in our future and then we started talking about the planning and how smoothly everything has been going. How we really haven’t been stressed with it at all. Maybe it’s because we still have plenty of time or maybe it’s because I’m in the business of weddings. Whatever the reason may be I choose to believe its because we are just looking forward to being together forever.

Here’s to many more month-iversaries babe! Can’t wait to spend forever with you!

THE dress!!!

The following post is about my wedding planning experience. This blog not only serves as a place to show of my most recent work but also as my personal journal where I talk about my life and share my experiences with friends, family and anybody else who wants to read it. I added a new category where I will be adding to the planning  it’s called MY WEDDING. Feel free to skip if you aren’t interested! :)

*********

Right after getting engaged I knew certain things had to be done right away. Things like securing the church and venue. We also signed the contract for the music. Still with more than a year to go I thought I would pace myself and just get the big things out of the way.

Even though we still had plenty of time there was one thing I really wanted to do…I wanted to look for the perfect dress. I started shopping around in June and went to a couple of places here in town and even some in Monterrey. To tell you the truth after looking and seeing some beautiful gowns and not being able to choose I was overwhelmed with the experience and I didn’t want to choose just anything. There were a couple that sparked my interest. I even joked by saying I loved three dresses and needed three weddings to wear them all…kidding all the way.

So after being undecided I took a step back and just took a break from searching for it. I had seen them all and tried on what I thought was what I wanted. From trumpet to mermaid, from fit and flare to ball gowns. I thought I would try them even though I had a picture in mind that I thought was what I wanted.

After a much needed break of about two months I went back to Ventura’s Bridal where Natalie was so patient with me while I looked through the hundreds of dresses. I picked out a few of the new arrivals and one that I had tried on before that I kept thinking about but I wanted to make sure of.

I remember putting on the dress and getting this rush of feelings and emotions. I stepped outside and saw myself on the full length mirror and just thinking to myself that the dress was gorgeous and how I couldn’t wait for Pepe to see me in it. It’s like I just knew.

I still tried on the other dresses we had picked out that day but none compared after having tried on that little gem. To make sure, I tried it back on and didn’t want to take it off. What a wonderful feeling!!! I was so excited I called Pepe and told him I had picked out the dress, “Oh yeah!” was his answer.

Oh Yeah!! I sure did find it!!
