The Wedding Album

After the cake is cut, the last dance is done and you return from your honeymoon the one thing you are most excited about is getting your wedding photos. To relive the day from beginning to end. From the getting ready details to the reception details. Your wedding album is your first family heirloom. The album you will show at family reunions and the album your children will flip through a million times.

At JTG STUDIO, everything is done in house. I meet with you for your initial consultation, you book the date. I photograph your engagement and bridal session. The wedding day goes by smoothly as you are working it for the camera. After all the other sessions, you feel so relaxed it’s as if I’m just a good friend with a really nice camera. While you are away on your honeymoon, I sort through all the photos and narrow them down to an average of 400-600 pictures. The wedding album is designed in house as well. I create an album that will stand the test of time, without flourishes and stamps that will date your album. You will receive an elegant, clean crisp design telling the story of your wedding day.

My favorite part (after taking the photos) is seeing the bride and groom flip through the album and just falling in love all over again, laughing and reminiscing on how wonderful their day was.

Here are some photos of a recent album. It is an 11×14 album, with a cocoa leather cover and a champagne accent strap.

The 8×6 cover photo is made out of metal.

Houston Maternity Photographer: Pedro and Lely

Last year, my last session was with Lely and Pedro. I was thrilled to hear that they were coming to Houston for Christmas. I hadn’t seen them since their wedding in November of 2008. I was even more excited because Lely is 7 months pregnant and a maternity shoot was a must. With such beautiful subjects who could resist.

We set out that day to my favorite park in midtown and had a quick session. The sunset was beautiful and it made for glorious photos.

I can’t wait to meet your little bundle of joy.

Strike a pose!

Photobooth at weddings has been a trend for a while now and it has caught up in the Houston market. We have started offering this service to our brides and the response has been great.

My style of shooting weddings is more photojournalistic and candid. The photobooth at your wedding reception allows for a more posed shots, things get a little crazy. This is a good opportunity for guest to take a photo with different props. Guest can get creative when it comes to the booth. Instead of going table per table and getting shots of guest, they can step into the photobooth. This allows me to capture the candid moments on the dance floor, while my assistant is capturing the posed photographs of the guest who wouldn’t be in the photographs because they are not in the action. A win, win situation!!

Houston Wedding Photography: Toni and Steven

Get ready for a long post of portraits, my favorite part of the wedding day.

After the ceremony at All Saints Catholic Church in the Heights we started taking portraits of the wedding party and as soon as we were done with them they were on their way, giving the bride and groom some alone time. Due to the fact that it was a Catholic ceremony, the mass was really early so we had plenty of time for portraits before the reception started at the Magnolia Ballroom in Downtown Houston.

Outside the church was a great natural setting and the sun was coming in beautifully between the pines. Here are a few favorites.

All Saints Catholic Church Wedding Photography: Toni and Steven

After getting ready at the Sycamore Bed and Breakfast, Toni headed to All Saints Catholic Church in the Heights where Steven was already waiting to make her his bride. It was a very touching ceremony both in English and Spanish. The church was beautiful and I couldn’t get enough of the stars on the ceiling.

Sycamore Heights Bed and Breakfast Wedding Photography: Toni and Steven

Toni and Steven’s big day started with the preparation at the Sycamore Bed and Breakfast in the Heights. They rented out the entire house for the weekend and it was cool to have the whole property available for some great photos. Garten Verein Wedding Photography

Funny how things work out. I had just arrived from my trip to Cozumel when I get a voicemail from a fellow photographer. He sounded desperate and in need, his second had canceled last minute for a wedding the next day. I don’t know about you but after a vacation I like to take a day to unwind from the packing and the airport. I started thinking that he needed my help and called him back to tell him I would second for him. I know he’ll pay it forward.

Here is my take on this Galveston wedding that I second shot for Steve.

The girls got ready at the Moody Gardens Hotel.

I was in awe with the dress, so whimsical. Can’t go wrong with a Maggie Sottero gown.

I really liked her monogram and the way it was carried out through the invitation and program.

This looks very Hollywood-esque (a word I just made up) to me.

Becoming man and wife!

We snuck out for some portraits of just them when the lighting was perfect in Kempner Park.

Villa Romanza Wedding Photography in Guadalajara, Mexico: Carla and Javier

This weekend I attended a very special and beautiful wedding in Guadalajara, Mexico. Yes, I attended and took some photos. How could I resist such a beautiful couple.

My cousin and his now wife, Carla meet in Canada during a studying abroad program in 2003. And they fell fully, madly, deeply in love. Almost six years later, they became man and wife. Their whole relationship was long distance, but that only makes the heart grow fonder.

I truly admire their respect for one another and their love. They are so in love. Here are some photos.

I can not stress enough the importance of making time for photos of yourself during the day. They were ready three hours before the ceremony and we had two hours to play with and take photos and it was a beautiful experience.

All of the photos in the ceremony were taken without flash.

All in all it was a wonderful evening.
